Saad recently wrote a section of a BBC radio drama ‘Bohra Bistra’ “As a result of Partition, where millions of people were made homeless; migrants left the sub continent and settled in other parts of the world. Therefore there is a direct link between Partition and the creation of the Muslim Diaspora. This production aims to explore the lives of modern day Muslims living in the Diaspora and establish a link between their lives now and Partition. The link to Partition will be realised through a character, a woman who walks across the border with all her worldly possessions. This woman’s grandchildren are currently spread around the world. The grandmother’s story will be told through song and her grandchildren’s stories will be told through short plays or monologues”
Saad wrote the section about the grandchildren in Pakistan. The piece was called ‘My Omelette’ |
